The Guelph show was Beth Neilsen Chapman, Rodney, and Will Kimbrough as the main show in the big hall, and the next day a songwriters in the round of whom I only remember one name besides RC , Beth, and Will - David Francey, although there were other songwriters as well.

And I believe Rodney wore those same boots at the Bluebird at the Americana show with Mary Gauthier, Minton Sparks with John Jackson, and Elizabeth Cook with her own hubby, Tim Carroll.

Rodney sang a song so new, he had to have the words before him, a song that will make robins blush.

And we can look forward to hearing Rodney sing his new song, Sing Your Heart Out, with Kieran Goss' own beautiful voice as well. I can hardly wait. I think it will be a song to make us sigh.

I got an ol’ pair of boots
And they fit just right
I can work all day
And I can dance all night

Can you name the song?

Who wrote it?

I know you know Mike and so do I.

Tytana-I'm late to this post (had some trouble logging on) but just wanted to say its heartening to hear from a "20 something" who is impacted by Rodney. I am 57, a songwriter/performer and Rodney is by far the biggest influence on me-has been for a long time. It is amazing how one phrase or even one or two words can touch you at a moment so deep and make you hit the rewind button repeatedly--and how a great song can change over time and make you see something new. Dylan (of course) is like that. His songs live like in an alternate place that we get to glimpse on our way by-Rodney's too :)

Oops--posted in the wrong place (sorry).

Rhonda--I think that lyric is from "Stuff That Works" ;)

Yes, and I have a lot of that stuff that works laying around - like my handy 30 year old rusted wheel barrow that is still strong and willing to carry a load. I keep looking at new ones, but keep using the old one.

I had a red jacket too that I left at the Belcourt theater downtown Nashville from a Rodney show. It is in their lost and found, but the five times I've been back, it is never a good time to pick it up. So I finally just bought a new red jacket.

I got an ol’ blue shirt
And it suits me just fine
I like the way it feels
So I wear it all the time
I got an old guitar
It won’t ever stay in tune
I like the way it sounds
In a dark and empty room

I got an ol’ pair of boots
And they fit just right
I can work all day
And I can dance all night
I got an ol’ used car
And it runs just like a top
I get the feelin’ it ain’t
Ever gonna stop

Chorus

Stuff that works, stuff that holds up
The kind of stuff you don’t hang on the wall
Stuff that’s real, stuff you feel
The kind of stuff you reach for when you fall

I got a pretty good friend
Who’s seen me at my worst
He can’t tell if I’m a blessing
Or a curse
But he always shows up
When the chips are down
That’s the kind of stuff
I like to be around

Chorus

I got a woman I love
She’s crazy and paints like God
She’s got a playground sense of justice
She won’t take odds
I got a tattoo with her name
Right through my soul
I think everything she touches
Turns to gold

It's late, but I am casting my vote for "Rock of My Soul". Also on behalf of my nephew, who's loved that song since he was just a very little guy. In fact, he's loved that entire album since I first played it for him, and he was just past being a toddler.
