If you visit

http://www.npr.org/templates/player/med ... m=95464272

you can listen to the Rodney & Jenny Scheinman 'World Cafe Downstairs' show that was broadcast on August 22nd.

And if you visit

http://www.npr.org/templates/player/med ... m=95464272

you can hear a very nice interview with Rodney recorded after the above show which also includes a couple of songs from the show + a song performed as an encore but not used on the original broadcast of the show.
This song that Rodney introduces as 'Fly Boy & The Kid' should be quite familiar as he has performed it live off and on since around 2004 under the title 'Here's To Love (Mad Dogs From The Mountain)' .

Oh hey Mike! Thanks! I missed the interview!

Listening now...

Intelligent Design...

Talking about us women's...we are all so beautiful, and, we don't even know it! Our culture doesn't want us to think we are, unless, we fit some crooked mold, but, we bought it! That's our part! I, myself, was drowning in brine, a long time ago, believing the lies! Thankfully, a very wonderful woman dropped down out of the sky, and, into my life, and, I listened to her, and she saved my life! If you're reading this, and, you relate, take a look around, you'd be surprised and elated to see, that there is a person that can help you...the question is...will you let them??? I say, take that chance, you will never regret it!!!

Carry on Rodney...

Mike, you have the words to The Fly Boy and the Kid

Folks, you have heard us talk about this song, many times. If you have not been to a show where Rodney sang the song, now is your time to hear it.

It is almost the end, at 19:50 on the time bar.

Lyrics to :-

The Fly Boy & The Kid

THE FLY BOY & THE KID

May the wind be at your back
And the world sit at your feet
May you waltz across Wyoming
With a rose clutched in your teeth

May the answers to your questions
Fall like raindrops right on cue
May you set up shop in heaven
For the devil knows you’re due

Ooh, Here’s to love, here’s to life
All the fair and tender ladies
And the plain dirt farmers wives

Yeh, Here’s to you, here’s to me
Two old mad dogs from the mountain
And that’s all we’ll ever be

May your nights be filled with laughter
And your days with honest work
May you wake up smelling roses
When you’re face down in the dirt

If you had the sense to come in
When the storm clouds start to grow
Then you couldn’t be my right hand
And the best friend that I know

Ooh, Here’s to life, here’s to love
When you heart beats like a drum
And your shoe fits like a glove

Yeh, Here’s to you, here’s to me
Two old mad dogs from the mountain
And that’s all we’ll ever be

May you always stay in touch
With the things that keep you young
And staring at injustice
May you never bite your tongue

May the bad tracks of your future
Find you down wind in the glade
Where the grass is green as Absinthe
And comes in forty shades

Ooh, Here’s to love, here’s to life
All the fair and tender ladies
And the old fishmongers wife

Yeh, Here’s to you, here’s to me
Two old mad dogs from the mountain
And that’s all we’ll ever be

Yeh, Set ‘em up, drinks for free
We ain’t going to live forever boys
And that’s all right with me

Rhonda

These are the original lyrics I transcribed from live versions of the song when it was thought the title was 'Here's To Love' - I will have to compare these with the version of Fly Boy & The Kid and update any changes.

Update :-

Compared the new version of Fly Boy... with the above lyrics and apart from a few minor changes to the second part of each chorus the lyrics are unchanged.
